Repair or buy new?!

need advice please elderly mom. late 2011 mbp need repairs , upgrading run smoothly again, cost app. $ 700. new 1 live cost app. $ 2400. think it's worth having thing fixed , sqeeze out 2-3 years or buy new mpbp.

what mother use mbp for? 2400$ sounds loaded model me. things 1200$ mba or 1400$ 13" mbp?
