Restoring iPhone Apps to an iTunes Backup


hi everyone.

i've run issues restoring iphone apps to/from phone backup in itunes, thought i'd see if might able help. reference, iphone 5s running ios 9.0.1, , i'm using itunes 12.3.0.44 on macbook pro running yosemite.

noticed there number of apps in music/itunes/itunes music/mobile applications no longer have installed on iphone, in interest of freeing little disk space on macbook pro, wanted rebuild app archive scratch. deleted of apps in mobile applications folder, plan use file > devices > transfer purchases [my iphone's name] function re-copy of apps phone itunes archive, thereby leaving me apps i'm using.

unfortunately, after deleting of apps mobile applications folder re-connecting phone , using "transfer purchases" function, few items seem transfer (a few songs i've purchased on itunes), , that's it. reason, can't apps on iphone copy itunes archive, , mobile applications folder remains empty. make things worse, have brand new iphone 6s i'd start using, whenever try installing backup of 5s new 6s, of apps missing.

think key me restore of apps on iphone 5s mobile applications folder. once that's done, should set restore backup of 5s new 6s. so, suggestions appreciated.

on side note, correct in assuming iphone backup file(s) don't contain apps? in other words, seems restoring backup contingent upon having of apps in mobile applications folder, in case apps aren't stored within backup file itself.
 

i'm having same problem mine when running on el capitan , same version of itunes - none of apps copied over.

can backup files older computer snow leopard , older version of itunes, doesn't support iphone 6s.

last resort old mac, copy phone's backup folder on new 1 , hope best...

Help please Strange logs
