will a 2010 MB be good enough for music production

hi everyone, have macbook 2010 (processor: 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo, memory 4 gb 1067 mhz ddr3)
, tho apple says max memory can have on 4 gb, can see can upgraded 8gb or 16, i'd upgrade 8 or 16 run music software more efficiently make of difference because it's dated machine? read somewhere memory upgrade won't make difference because rest of machine isn't workhouse... needed few opinions on dont waste money...

go out buy new macbook make music on if can save money upgrading 1 have , runs alot better, i'd rather , save money... thanks!

generally speaking increasing ram allows multitasking occur more fluidly: opening , running of multiple programs. 8 gigs producing music. had old imac 4 gb ram , garageband, logic pro worked multitrackng.
