Resolved Storage Strategy for Data


how store data efficiently? if data mess, please don't reply.

keep computer files (audio/video/photos/etc) on several storage devices.

mac mini: 1 gb (250 gb + 750 gb - not fusion drive) keep photo collection on mini. full.
seagate hd 1: 4 tb (videos , music) using 2 gb
seagate hd 2: 4 tb ( drive)

prefer keeping on 1 drive, master drive of mac, i'm waiting mac mini able accommodate amount of data maintain, 3 gb , growing.

not looking clean library. want keep data have. yes, need photo of floor child took, call me digital hoarder. :)

wrong want files unified in neat package? bothers me strewn , feel every time hard drive fails (luckily doesn't happen often), have learn how linked , stored on again.

again, if have genius way of managing large amount of data, in rather efficient way, i'd love hear it!

i have no idea means....

how "learn how linked , stored" mean? using complicated setup using symbolic links (just stop, it's waste of time). reducing 1 drive you? aren't using time machine? pretty solve problem if aren't. or have drives mirror current drives. time machine easiest.

fact is, never have mini has enough storage cover needs (short of going 2012 or earlier , running dual 2.5" mechanical drives), because sounds 2.5" drive cover needs (i.e. 3tb) have outgrown size.

have 16 drives hanging off main media mini (granted in 4 - 4bay drive enclosures). doesn't bother me @ all. 1 set of 4 movies, 1 set of 4 tv shoes, 1 set of 4 centralized time machine backup, , 1 set of 4 photos, music , other files.

doesn't bother me 1 bit , when have swap out stuff due drive failure or not isn't big deal.
