Early 2011 MBP: hardware upgrade worth it?

hi all,

own 2011, 17 inch macbook pro stock hardware (2.2 ghz i7, 4 gb ram , standard hard disk). since lately has been getting slow, i'm thinking of doing hardware upgrade. more i'm thinking of replacing hard disk samsung 850 evo ssd (500 gb) , upping ram 16 gb (1600 mhz corsair vengeance). however, since mbp quite old, i'm not sure whether should make investment (around €250 total). read on blog if you're macbook more 4 years old , slow, wiser buy new one. however, see lots of people still upgrading 2011 macbooks. there several objections think of; considering age of mb, other parts start fail in near future, rendering investment useless. also, processor can become bottleneck not increase performance current standards , furthermore, apple can stop supporting older macbooks mine new os x versions come. i've seen macbook being sold quite high prices still (€850-1000), i'm taking consideration. care give advice?

thanks!
