RAM and hard drive questions


i ordered brand new 27" retina imac. comes 8 gb memory, i'd add more. i'd know, if this suitable set of ram?

imac's hard drive prices ridiculous, ordered mine 256 gb ssd. i've planned take off 256 gb ssd old macbook, , use external hard drive. sensible, or silly use ssd externally? can use this case drive, or how should mount it? of course buy hard drive dock, wouldn't fit drawer, , i'd keep desk neat , clean.
 

no no no. desktop memory , imac takes laptop memory. it's big. , yes, ssd choice was, imho, incorrect. budget option go 2tb fusion or bump 512 ssd. btw, if pinched money, wait on ram upgrade. might okay while 8gb. drive more important. , yes, plan repurpose old drive , in usb 3 enclosure, quick!

(but might better off selling old macbook , using cash better upgrades).

imac harddrive prices, not ridiculous because aren't comparing pci-e flash ssd. , flash memory 2-2.5x faster ssds you're looking at.
