terrific idea thread, , sharing collection. agree re dark claret red japanese pen - is attractive pen.

well, have been writing fountain pens since teenager , write else, have quite few fountain pens. , used.

unfortunately, camera still runs on film, , phone antique nokia, world of digital photography entirely beyond me.

might ask if individuals post pictures describe has been shown, , perhaps add along lines of when , bought it, or got it?

teenager - , later - must never liked parker pens, thought them large , heavy , uncomfortable , unbalanced in hand. thus, never cared them.

preference @ school quite few years small papermate fountain pens; @ school, given few father had, had few nice cross pens, used shaeffer fountain pens, , these used @ university, inheriting (or begging him) ones either didn't wish use longer, or liked, or handed on me wished buy new 1 himself.

later still, when working teacher - , travelling - picked beautiful waterman, in heathrow airport, looked gorgeous - former professors admired - wasn't terribly comfortable write length of time.

on decade ago, bought caran d'ache stainless steel fountain pen , found extremely good, sturdy, , reliable, yet heavy.

past few years have been writing mont blancs.

initially, had disdained them, thinking brand triumph of hype , style on substance. disliked of massive pens - thinking them monument macho, plutocratic self-indulgence.

ironically, rather battered mont blanc roller ball pen inherited changed mind - thing wrote beautifully, , ergonomically designed, fitted hand , wrote without slightest strain found myself compelled take @ brand love fountain pens.

since - best part of 5 years ago - have been writing mont blancs.

personal preference mont blanc 144, black, classic meisterstuck. superb pen. light, , perfect small hands. used - , use - daily note-taking, , preparing briefings - in fact, used on 1 foreign posting black resin casing cracked , had replaced. pen favourite - ever.

ergonomics superlative, balanced in hand, glides along page, , neither tires nor strains wrist. physically, can write thing day long, - - designed do. moreover, ink never leaks - of other pens (even of expensive ones) suffered design flaw, , mont blanc nib never stutters, or blobs, or feathers, offering no ink 1 minute , gush of ink blots next.

problem mont blanc have discontinued 144. have 145, , 146, both - frankly - while lovely pens little bit large hand entirely comfortable when held, if wish, or need, able write considerable period of time.

so, ordered 144 - specialist pen shop managed cannibalise 1 me, leaves me 2 working mont blanc black-resined case meisterstuck 144s. in london last year, in exquisite penfriend shop, in piccadilly, acquired sterling silver version of mont blanc 144, writes every bit black resined siblings, but, obvious reasons, travels abroad lot less often.
