iPhone 4s as a media player


advice needed configure old iphone audio player only.

got hands on free iphone 4s (a1387) i'm going use mobile device listen podcasts+music.
haven't had use iphone, haven't paid attention ios info, @ point. , why i'm asking stupid question.
want use listen audio podcasts, music etc. no video or pictures. no cell phone service. mobile device listen podcasts. can plug macbook pro + itunes load podcasts no problems...but there's other crap on iphone.
can rid of far apps , bells+whistles have no use for? thing has social media crap on twitter etc. won't using.
can delete or turn off? settings? notifications? cell data yadda yadda?

might use camera occasionally. i'm looking use bare-bones ipod, of sorts.

info, advise, tips, suggestions appreciated. "get ipod, dummy" doesn't count! :)

it sounds got phone didn't restore (wipe) it. if case, connect phone itunes, , select restore new". after phone restores, prompted set-up "new" phone, , can turn on want.
