2012 Mac Mini upgraded from Mav to El Cap is now invisible


we have 2 imacs running el capitan , 2012 mac mini running mavericks.
3 machines saw each other fine (the other 2 showed in each machine's finder side bar)

upgraded mac mini (after making cc clone of it) , when came - no longer accessible 2 imacs.

have tried connecting directly via it's ip (via finder - connect server ) , times out.

mac mini can see other 2 machines fine - can not see it.
(the 2 imacs appear in mac mini's finder side bar - not appear in theirs)
(and yes - can access imacs fine mac mini...)

before biting bullet , reverting mavericks (and hoping fixes things) have other suggestions?

use mac mini our media server - , use screen sharing add files etc.
 

have checked sharing , security settings on mac mini?
