How to re-format mid-2010 MBP with 10.8.5


i have mid-2010 mbp (2.66 ghz intel core i7 8gb 1067 mhz ddr3 ram , intel hd graphics 288 mb) running 10.8.5. re-format computer (i.e wipe hd other os).

give me instructions on how this?

or alternatively, should consider upgrading more recent os?
