All iPads Wacom would go out of business with universal pencil support.

i think thread fellow artist relate to. understand why pencil such big deal.

non artist wacom company creates drawing tablets , preferred tool maker digital artists. google piece of digital art , odds 9 out of ten times made wacom product. reason need wacom on mouse or dumb styli can summarized in 2 words "pressure sensivity."

first version sucks , adopters screwed , yet unlike third party solutions "adonit's pixel point" or "pencil 53" considered toys @ best apple pencil tool. meaning there lot of companies created or invested lot of money create stylus draw in ipad before apple stepped in pencil. first version of apple pencil getting lot of comparisons wacom , surface.





wacom has been notoriously overpriced. expensive ipad pro is, believe or not, cheaper cintiq line. none portable cintiq 13 hd expensive ipad pro. ironically apple cheapest option ipad pro support. meanwhile (not as) portable , super bulky cintiq companion @ least 1350 dollars (if live in america if not lot more expensive) very expensive , not portable ipad pro @ (they have noisy fans).

digital artist have dreamed of drawing directly on screen years pros (or rich) have been able justify or afford buying one. meanwhile beginners or people without money have had rely on cheap bamboo tablets , adapt drawing in board , seeing screen, adapted.




ever wonder reason have charge pencil? it's because wacom has patent of not chargeable styli.

when pencil arrives ipads (not pro) or if remains exclusive, when pro 2 (making pro 1 cheaper), there literally no reason artist (specially beginners) not ipad draw instead of intuos or bamboo tablet or cintiq. some pros might still prefer cintiq refinement of astropad , future versions of pencil coming ipad improving on stagnate wacom win on wacom.

many artist have worked asses, sweat , tears , savings able cheapest wacom not minding second discomfort of watching screen , drawing in pad. artist got steal cheap printing paper able draw.

that's why feel snobs want pencil exclusive pro able brag on starbucks being close minded @ best , selfishly stagnating art @ worst.
