Apple Buys Former Semiconductor Plant in North San Jose for $18.2 Million

apple has purchased additional real estate in north san jose, time snapping 70,000 square foot building @ 3725 n. first street, reports silicon valley business journal. apple paid $18.2 million building, formerly served manufacturing facility maxim integrated products, semiconductor company.

not known apple building, description of real estate listing suggests used manufacturing or research , development. analysts silicon valley business journal spoke believe it's used research space prototyping given small size, , apple said in statement expanding san jose office space , research , development facilities.

in recent months, apple has been purchasing large swathes of land around bay area, in north san jose. apple purchased 296,000 square foot research , development building in may, leased a 43-acre development site in august, , leased 202,000 square-foot office building in october. of property may turned massive 4.15 million square foot campus, according talks apple has had san jose city officials.

apple has purchased 770,000 square foot campus in sunnyvale , has leased 76,000 square feet of office space in popular south of market (soma) neighborhood in san francisco.
