Tiger: Output Volume always reset to max after restart


i remember there annoying issue when using tiger (10.4.11) hdd doesn't not come mac, i.e., not apple-branded hard drive. have forgotten is, until now.

issue "output volume" in sound pane reset maximum after restart/shutdown. no matter drag slider to, won't stay there after restart/shutdown if hdd boots not apple-branded.

when boot drive apple-branded, slider stays was.

has experienced issue?

ps. leopard doesn't have problem.

update: happens mdd, ibook g3 doesn't exhibit issue...
 

have reset pram?
