2009 Macmini3,1 startup problems


hi folks,

while brother's 2009 mac mini has run problems during startup.

takes forever past apple logo, , has trouble finding bt keyboard.

he's confirmed has important on external drive determined best course of action @ point nuke orbit , start fresh (the old format , reinstall os x routine).

can recommend best way go given machine having problems keyboard? also, sound there may hardware issues? don't have problem replacing hdd if comes it.

you try using disk utility check verify disk (first aid in el capitan).
