Time Machine Back-ups to Network Connected Drive

hi all,

back-up both of macbooks single external drive connected usb3 port of asus rt-ac68u router. works great.

of course single network drive , if unfortunately have double failure of both drive , macbook have lost ability restore laptop.

seeking economical dual drive solution perform time machine backups. ideally, dual drive enclosure connect usb port on router , dual drives mirror each other in event 1 of them fail.

can provide me consider solution.

cheers,

sounds after raid1. there external usb3 raid1 enclosures, not know if work router. might want check asus on that.

people use networked attached storage device (nas) supports raid1. box contains raid1 drives , attached network using wired ethernet connection. there lot of vendors qnap , synology sell these raid1 nas devices.

might cheaper attach usb hub router attached two, cheap usb drives, select them each separately time machine destination on each mac. each mac alternate between 2 drives. hour 1 backup first drive, hour 2 second drive , on.
