Airport Extreme hard drive not displaying


hi guys - hoping might have insight problem i'm having airport extreme. have latest-generation airport extreme , have decided attach external hard drive purpose of time machine backups. hard drive works fine , has backed computer when plugged in directly laptop's usb port without problems, it's not showing on airport extreme. i've plugged powered usb hub ae can share printer, it's not appearing in disks section of airport utility or in shared section of finder. doing wrong? thoughts appreciated!!
 

is file sharing turned on in airport utility? usb hard drive must formatted in either fat 32 or mac os extended (journaled).
