Speed difference between SSD and Fusion?


1. how of performance difference speed wise there between ssd , fusion drive? significant difference?

2. drawbacks besides speed there getting fusion drive?

there's (really, really) long thread on here somewhere. might worth having bit of search. answer questions briefly. assuming 128gb fusion:

1)

if keep less 128gb on fusion drive, same speed ssd. unlikely, know, in case depends on how access same stuff. popular blocks (not files, lower down) kept on ssd. so, stuff use gives ssd speed. less popular blocks come @ hard disk speed.

writes disk same speed ssd first 4gb. after goes hard disk. so, if write less 4gb @ time, same speed ssd.

2)

main drawback ssd evangelists forever telling off buying 'spinner'.
fusion drive reliable hard disk. if think hard disks unreliable, fusion problem. but, hard disks didn't stop working when solid disks invented. , backups must whatever choose.
