Why is Finder so slow?

i have been using macs since february new. 1 thing pisses me off how slow finder when opening folders network share. car take minute or 2 open folders nas have lots of files in them (anywhere 200-500 pictures).
why finder slow? unix thing? run linux on mid 2014 rmbp , it's same thing there too.
windows explorer has no trouble opening these same folders. takes 3-4 seconds open folders have lots of files in them.

find finder unacceptable. don't using 3rd party programs may have try 3rd party file manager. suggestions?

i cannot give definitive answer, recount personal experience , hope find useful.

when using time capsule (basically nas) repository of files, 1 thing bothered me was slow access files. surprised seeing apple device on network.

switched dedicated (mac) server , response times improved (in fact, great).

can still see os takes time connect server (i let server sleep drives), once connection established (literally seconds @ most) browsing of files same if on local hdd.
