Double "photo" libraries? - Help

hi all,

looking through of files , noticed have "photos library" (34 gb) , "iphoto library" (43 gb).

can tell me going on here?

1. why have "photos" , "iphoto" separate? shouldn't "photos library?"

2. why there ~9 gb difference between 2 libraries? there easy way rectify this? or perhaps has "photos library" deleted bunch of duplicates?

thanks,

lp

attached files:

when first upgraded yosemite, , photos app added, iphoto library imported automatically photos. both library files kept. see iphoto library has not been updated (and date on iphoto library file around time first updated photos.
if don't ever use iphoto now, safely delete iphoto library. did copy iphoto library external volume, safety backup. delete iphoto library file user folder, 43 gb of space back. suspect never miss whatever file adjustment took place during import photos. import have left behind files use features no longer available in photos, , of may have been intermediate edits photos doesn't need, or can't use. database layout used substantially different, , might account of space difference, of parts not imported, because not used in photos @ all.
prune out originals old iphoto library file (there's folder of originals in file, named "masters"), keep those, , rid of rest of file. else, used photos, have been brought across photos library @ time of original import.

**i did looking, , found this article. should answer question more post.
