Networking problem iMac and Readynas


hi folks. sorry if bit long

firstly ill introduce myself. name barry , have worked in long mac skills have gone awry on last few years due lack of customers using them.

work design company in uk. time ago installed netgear readynas 102 6tb file server. pc's on network access readynas quickly. 2 macs really slow, taking 3 minutes open folder on share. both macs running 10.11.3 el capitan , imac (24inch, 2008). other 1 imac (retina 5k 27 inch late 2014).

have been trying @ length working netgear support resolve no avail far. have had netgear engineer remote nas , make changes smb settings , upgrade firmware.

nothing makes difference. tried new switch, swapped port on 1 pc running on , same.

out of ideas hoping apple user may have had similar problem there must fair few using readynas.

problem has been there sometime gather got worse latest os upgrade.

way know connect other devices nas use go menu in finder, put ip address in using either smb cifs, afp, or nfs. have tried them all. same results. there way of connecting or creating alias?

another thing sprung mind last night when had light bulb moment remember similar issue on pc years ago trying resolve connection local network server going off internet first find before finding locally. issue here , how can force search locally if is.

hope can ive been burning midnight oil days trying resolve this.

i find connect using new cifs instead of smb newer devices. might want try see if helps.
