2 Cores Vs. 4 Cores

ok, have perhaps dumb question. have 2011 imac 4-core 2.7ghz i5 processor. latest 13 inch macbook pro has 2.7ghz i5 2-core processor. despite fact 1 has twice cores other, geekbench scores identical.

newer iteration of i5 more efficient, etc. and... know lot more processor speed has real world performance, ... isolating processor, is there reason think 1 or other has kind of advantage on other, given fact 1 has twice many cores other ... despite fact geekbench scores identical?

guess, of course there 0 difference in how fast these systems handle processor related tasks, thought worth asking question.

is geekbench single-core or multi-core score? i'd think 4-core chip handle multithreaded apps better, else being equal (clock speed, i5)...even if mbp's processor few generations "better."
