Help! Contacts Won't Add, Delete or Search!


for past 2 or 3 weeks contacts has not allowed me add or delete addresses. can't import them mail (it seems allow when check data has not been entered). if type them in don't stay. if drag them trash, don't stay trashed. delete card greyed out. i've tried usual shutting down, repairing permissions etc, no change.

can't reinstall because bought computer used , don't have mavericks disk.

last night upgraded el capitan, hoping might fix it. nope. it's worse now; can't type name in search slot--it shuts program down after first letter or two.

i've got tons of email can't trash because need save contact info.

in advance can give,

are contacts synced icloud or local contacts?

if local, under file > export > contacts archive.

in users library delete these files:

application support > addressbook
containers > com.apple.addressbook

log out under apple in menu bar
log in
delete trash
open addressbook
under file > import select import contacts-11-xx.abbu file exported

Help please Strange logs
