Saving to Thunderbolt Hard Drive?

i have either cumbersome issue or silly question. purchased g-tech thunderbolt 2 unit , wanted set in jbod opposed raid. own mac pro , went through g-tech utility software , after realizing allowed me change raid configurations called tech support. told jbod not officially supported supposed be. said have leave in pass-thru mode , have each physical drive independent. okay, i'm not sure if factually correct since manuals mention jbod...but can still live since keeps organized onto each drive.

now, question becomes...how can save media, documents, , on drive? know traditional method either have itunes preferences save specific drive. "save as" works traditional documents when select specific location/drive. other method drag/drop or copy specific drive want. there more practical when want save lot of work 1 drive until full , change settings save second drive, , on?

trying data automatically save external drives without manually dragging/dropping or altering "save as" settings. wondering...i plan on backing drives second unit.
