Is the iPhone 5 still worth it?


hey guys
mother's birthday in month , wondering her. has iphone 4 , wanted newer model i'm on pretty tight budget , can't expensive (i want unused phone, not second hand) got eyes on 5 , 5c. doesn't use phone much. checks email, surfs web, plays casual games candy crush , checks projects on autocad views them (she's engineer) , that's it. though 3 year old phone, suppose apple keep supported through ios 10 too. , think it'd problem if phone's refurbished?
 

anything bellow 5s wouldn't bother @ point (unless free), spacial if thinking future ios upgrades.
