Macbook pro not booting after update

hi guys, first time posting here go easy

been struggling find way of reviving 15" macbook pro mid 09 i7
after trying update latest version of el capitan not boot more. turn on, 40% of loading bar, go white screen , cut out.

first port of call google f*ck out of it. these things have tried:

boot in recovery mode - wont reach disk utility
start in safe mode
reset nvram
reset smc
boot in single user mode , entered fsck -fy (after few goes said ok)
booting in verbose mode (mac got rather upset , came messsage saying killing cpu , shutting down in 3 seconds)

none of worked went reinstall osx aproach. took hdd out , pulled off files wanted through plugging mac (which worked fine). tried doing clean install of el capitan booting through usb , pretty got same response although loads 70% before doing same thing. (white screen , turns off)

tried same thing booting off external hdd - same result.
tried putting el capitan installer on old hdd , plugging straight hdd slot
tried booting snow leopard got recurring 3 beeps. (i think version of sl old mac)

makes there hardware fault other hdd?

has got suggestions?
in advance!

the original os mid 2009 mbp 10.5.7 , later 10.6 booting version of sl should work. 3 beeps @ startup indication of ram problem.
startup tones: https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht202768

think need try reseating ram first. may need replace ram.

if start mbp, recommend running apple hardware test (aht) on original cds (2nd disc) came mbp.
