Problems with iTunes movie playback


i'm having big issues playing itunes-purchased movies on mac (2013 macbook pro) , wondering if else having similar issues. have movie purchased through itunes store, , whenever try play it, video feed briefly pause while audio feed continues, , video feed play super fast catch audio feed. process repeats , makes watching movies unbearable. i'm not having issue watching movie on apple tv or ios devices...it's itunes, apparently. occurs when stream movies cloud when download them , try play them locally. i'm lose mind...if has suggestions i'd love hear them!
 

so noticed have task running called kernel_task in activity monitor. uses between 700 , 900 mb , can't quit. restarts , shutdowns haven't gotten rid of it, i'm thinking may somehow affecting system performance. i've noticed playing same movie file in quicktime doesn't cause stuttering issues. guys might have appreciated! never had issue before , not sure do...
