Split Screen Oversight?


i use computer schoolwork mainly. pages main word processor use type papers. noticed split screen not let split between 2 documents within same app. instance, if open document in pages, start new document, hold split screen button on first document occupy left half of screen, new, second document not eligible occupy right half of screen. doing wrong, bug, oversight, or os incapable of?

computer mid 2009 2.53 ghz macbookpro 8gb of ram , 500gb hard drive.
 

oversight. there's simple workaround... go mission control create new space 2 windows
