Upgrade or buy new?


i have 2011 mbp 2 ghz i7 8gb ram , 130 gb free on 500 gb hard drive. i'm running 10.11.2 without noticeable issues. i've had hard drive replaced after failure few years ago , gpu repair last year. free hd space moving videos , pictures time capsule, i'd rather not if don't have to.

part don't have issues computer. use internet , various classes. boots slow, don't reboot often. battery original, it's plugged in. don't travel often.

i've been getting beach ball little more , "freezes" time time. due it's age, i've started kick around idea of new laptop. don't need mbp based on usage. looking @ mb air, hd doesn't seem large on those.

i've considered bumping 1 tb ssd , 16 gb ram on machine. don't know if that's worth due it's age. don't keep computers of do, thought i'd toss out here advice. worth upgrading machine under $500 bucks, or i'm wasting time , should fork out $2000 new machine?

suggestions , products appreciated. thanks!
 

if upgrade hd ssd boot faster.

upgraded 4gb 16gb of ram on 2011 , made big difference in speed also.

if these 2 things, not money, seem faster.
