the hd in imac (in signature) making funny clicking sounds , @ same time froze spinning beachball. tried force restart after while , white screen flashing file folder icon has ? in middle. i'm guessing hard drive dead. question whether it's worth trying replace hard drive. has 12gb of ram in addition specs below. use computer server music , plex/apple tv. use web browsing etc, not else. should buying new imac given age of one, or new hard drive leave me suitable machine purposes? know replacing hd isn't simple, think can manage it.
edit: may 2010 model. looking @ replacement parts, looks i3 3.2ghz 2010. info on appreciated.
i figure it's @ least worth replacing hdd if buy new imac, i'd go ahead , figure out need. far can tell, i3 3.2ghz 2010 model, meaning can use hybrid drive:

if in fact compatible, i'll go ahead , order along tools , other parts need.
