WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? [getting video but no audio]


i'm getting video no audio using hdmi out of apple multifunction adaptor rmb hdmi in of new 27" asus monitor. shouldn't adaptor carry both video , audio. i've hooked mba monitor mini dp hdmi , works fine, getting both audio , video. anyone? tia.
 

seems faulty adapter assuming hdmi cable ok
