Is it worth upgrading? 2009 MBP to 2012 MBP?

is worth upgrading laptop?

have 2009 13" mbp c2d 2.26ghz, 8gb ram, geforce 9400m 256mb video card , run dual internal drives -- 250gb ssd os , apps disk , 750gb hdd (i think it's 5400 rpm). running el capitain.

have been finding lately number of things running slower. oddly enough, it's more common tasks -- web-based mail, having firefox. system sluggish in general. lr5 still ok, though i've become largely jpg shooter , processing 20-24 megapixel files (and shoot a6000 @ 12mp in jpg). maybe because don't raw anymore, don't see difference?

have opportunity buy 2012 mbp i5 2.6ghz. model year, because continue dual drive situation, fw external backup devices, etc. don't have rebuild entire workflow.

enough of upgrade?

have air, don't need laptop, other thought go latest macmini, can add external drives, idea of laptop , mobility (just in case) appealing.

keep under $1k upgrade, brand new mbp new lightening devices, etc. out of budget.

help/thoughts

for around $1k, buy "top-level" mini. comes 8gb of ram , 1tb fusion drive standard (fusion drive has 120gb ssd portion , 1tb hdd portion). iris graphics.
