hi guys, got first mac in october after having windows life. enjoying far except found transparency much. not sure why ive loves much. anyway reduced transparency , dock became opaque. used cdock transparent again think looks better. when installing cdock had use terminal disable system integrity protection.. make me vulnerable viruses or anything? reenabled after cdock , installed.   system integrity protection damage mitigation in case contract malware. not known how effective or be, bar should protect core system when happen. being said, there no reason keep turned off after installing cdock. possible turn of specific parts of protection only, don't know cdock needs. if needs install guess write access system directories.   Forums Macs macOS

hello, since windows work differently, posting here. have macbook pro 2010 17" me right now. between 2012-2014, used rmbp 15" 2012. in 2014-a week ago, used rmbp 15" 2014. in add 3 machines, used bootcamp , installed windows 7 in bootcamp partitions. used winclone backup windows partition. waiting up-coming new mac laptop might available in march or may. after upgrading ei capitan, performance of mbp 2010 17" became slow. checked. mail not cause slowdown. 1. since have been using mbp, there issues if restore backuped windows partition (using winclone) on macbook or macbook air? 2. if buy surface pro 4 or macbook, able put backuped windows parition of these machines? 3. if upgrade hd of mbp 2010 17" ssd, think have issues given rmbp 2012 , rmbp 2014 have more advanced hardware. guess might have use windows installed on laptop base , manually copy files windows partition of rmbp 2012 , 2014. suggestion appreciated. thanks.

i have 2 independent tm backups. 1 started off clone of other. did such way time machine thinks same tm backup when plug in either drive, not intended. means if plug in tm drive a, perform backup, dismount , unplug , plug in tm drive b, tm tells me last backup drive time of last backup made tm drive a. i'm pretty confident read somewhere it's possible have tm recognise each tm drive unique tm backup, , therefore report lapsed time since each backup correctly either drive. i'm upgrade tm drive b, entail cloning new usb 3 hdd. how do , have tm recognise unique tm backup , report correct lapsed time in future?   you start new tm volume not clone existing one, no other way have them different after all. clone clone of previous drive show identical. when plug in new drive go tm preferences , add volume backup ask if want use both yes let thing , have 2 different backups point on showin

hi! looking update. have used mac since old enough tell parents don't windows. graduate student , start working on computational biology. user of macbooks, current macbook air (1,3 ghz intel core i5 4gb ram). doing regular biology , stuff portable , powerful enough everything. since started biocomputer thing it's running @ full. becoming warm in process , ram not enough. so... considering moving pro. being used portability of air considered 13" one. however. computer. move... lot. among countries , continents. in time periods go couple of months couple of yeas. so... big fancy desktop not nice have , move often. considered 15 inch better. since don't make enough money pay discrete gpu quad core vs dual core , maybe iris pro vs hd6100 of 13 inch (considering go 16gb ram on both, not making mistake again) price different worth it? or should favor portability? or should keep computer , try ssh way through of this? thanks, , sorry long post
