Why can't I upgrade to El Capitan?


i told version of safari (v6.1.6) out of date , needs updated make more secure. following links see in app store have 1 upgrade download. when attempt download says cannot install on imac, read can used on os after 10.6. running 10.7.5 on 8 year old imac increased memory. why can't install it? if imac old why recommend it?

it automatically recommends it, on computers can't upgrade. it's been way unfortunately. best thing right-click upgrade banner in app store , click 'hide', won't bother in future.

2007 macbooks can support lion, won't go beyond that.

if memory serves, think earliest imac can run el cap 2007 model.
