Questions about Fan Noise in iMac with Retina 5K and Best Actions to Correct It

i'm new imacs (after years of pc's) , first-time poster. sincerely appreciate comments/advice can give me.

bought new imac online in december 2015 , picked @ apple store in january 2016. details are:

27-inch imac retina 5k display / 3.3 ghz quad-core intel core i5, turbo boost 3.9ghz / 16gb 1867mhz ddr3 sdram - 2 8gb / 2tb fusion drive

since first time used it, there has been low volume, constant whirring noise coming from, believe, 1 of fans in back. however, when i'm sitting in front of screen (about 2 feet away), noise sounds high pitched insect's drone. it's still low volume, fact it's constant makes me nuts. i'll add fans not seem run faster/louder normal, read has been problem imacs in past.

chatted online apple's customer service this, , recommended typical unplugging reset smc. didn't help, recommended visit apple store.

visited same apple store picked imac. guy plugged imac ipad , ran diagnostic program around 20 minutes, didn't show problem fans cooling system. listened @ of imac in store , in separate "employees only" genius room, claimed , other employees couldn't hear unusual. asked him if take brief video of imac @ home, include sound, , send video e-mail him or customer service person show i'm talking about, said wasn't possibility. option bring imac store , bring video me.

i'm planning take video , go store, wanted ask of you:

1) common problem imacs? in separate 2014 thread called "retina imac fan noise while idle," poster mentioned, "sometimes imac 5k whir on left side. don't know is." made me wonder if it's common problem.

2) option fix problem replace fan? that's apple store guy said. i'm wondering if best way go or if replacing fan might lead new problem.

anyway, if have experience problem , ideas do, please let me know.

 

when had in apple store did still sound loud you? (as best determine different background ambient acoustic level)

graphics processor option in system?
