Rovio CEO Leaving 'Angry Birds' Company After Just One Year

rovio, company behind successful angry birds mobile franchise, today announced current ceo pekka rantala stepping down role after 1 year in office. retuers reported, rantala's time @ company included multiple job cuts , restructuring plans within rovio, , tenure coincided company's first reported profit decline since launch of angry birds in 2009.

company has announced chief legal officer kati levoranta take reins ceo in first quarter of 2016, after rantala officially vacates position. revealed new initiative "more independence" given 2 biggest branches: games , media. mikael hed, former rovio ceo, lead media branch while wilhelm taht, current head of external products, take lead on games side. according company, corporate-wide policy change spurred rantala step down.
earlier in year, reports confirmed 2014 included rovio's first major profit decline due lessening interest fans in company's physical consumer products clothing , toys. rovio's profit decline 2014 led forecasting of impending decline year, causing 213 jobs cut @ company in october.
