Upgrading to SSD right now help about something


hi, have new ssd , i'm install it, before started installation wanted make sure new ssd functional connected via external usb sata2.5 cable.
message saying "the disk inserted not readable computer" appeared on screen , checked , ssd being shown in disk utility , can in disk utility. disk not shown on finder window i'm little bit worried ssd won't work inside computer.
maybe it's other way around , until connect new ssd in hard drive internal port work perfectly??
researched , error message problem has happened lot of people too, , it's annoying warning computer shows mistake.
if can see in disk utility why can't see in finder window?
not gonna able transfer files old hard drive connecting usb sata cable through finder window?
or should connect new ssd see happens?
appreciated.
