2011 HDD replacement: How hard is it?


the hdd in 2011 21.5" imac dying (smart status failing, can't upgrade os) , need replaced. i'm out of warranty coverage (obviously) , have appointment @ apple store quote on price of replacement drive.

however, since tell me can't install ssd (i'm going ask i'm doubtful) did go , check on owc replacement parts. can buy full kit 480gb ssd $250 lot less apple charge (if has approximate price i'd curious know).

want speed increase , if saves money that's bonus. have experience internal parts via both mac pro towers (not work there) , pc towers (a bit more obviously) i'm worried ability take apart imac, in regards lcd , it's cables. so, main question, how hard remove screen , how fragile cables? i've gathered looks display cable ribbon cable pretty easy break 1 worrying me lot.

has done upgrade imac give me tips or @ least let me know if process hard? i'd hate ti destroy imac in attempt save $100 , speed.

Fallout 4 Builds- Which ones You Prefer?
