2012 MBP (MD101LL/A) Won't Boot from Hard Drive


my daughter's 2012 mbp won't boot either original 500gb sata hard drive or upgraded 500gb ssd whenever either drive installed in laptop...

luckily, can start machine , depress option key able boot external usb drive (both drives, when installed in owc enclosure, work external boot) -- can use mbp external drive...

has yosemite 10.10.3 (on sata) , yosemite 10.10.4 (on ssd)...

when open disk utility (on either drive) external drive, hard drive doesn't appear....just external drive , grayed-out superdrive

please -- for? hardware or software
 

the sata cable may bad. it's easy repair , inexpensive part. i'd try it.
