VESA-mount for 21.5" Late-2013 iMac

i have got hold of (secondhand) dream machine. 21.5" imac, late 2013, 16gb/512ssd/3+ghz i7. gutted discover there no simple way vesa-mount (being partially disabled need mount on arm).

bitterly disappointed apple's choice push personal computer in opposite direction "user serviceable".

i'm going put information find in post (seeing these forums allows retro editing).

apple stipulates base cannot removed: imac (late 2012 , later): vesa mount compatibility

can preorder vesa-mount $40: buy imac built-in vesa mount adapter

several companies have created mounts attach vesa plate of existing mount:
this horrible/clumsy/fugly solution existing base still floating around underneath unit, , arm need attach unit has ball , socket joint; compounded sprung hinge joint may create problems.

next option disassemble unit, gut out, detach base chassis , screw in vesa mount. however, apple don't sell component separately.

https://www.ifixit.com/guide/imac+intel+27-inch+emc+2639+stand+replacement/34185 shows hack 27" model. unfortunately ebay listing mount says "it not work 21.5" models, or 27" imac models prior 2013." furthermore, component not seem available longer.

however, if manufacture appropriate component, should possible same fix on 21.5" model: if @ bottom picture on https://www.ifixit.com/teardown/imac+intel+21.5-inch+emc+2638+teardown/17829 can see mount not in fact welded chassis.

1 possible option me hold of vesa mount version, maybe broken unit, spares / repair, or chassis even, , perform transplant: either transplant internals of existing machine , other chassis, or extract vesa mount , insert unit.

1 solution might use 1 of above mounts, , hacksaw off base. might end going that.

solution might somehow hold unit in place way clamp holds test-tube. i.e. grip around edges. looks tough mechanical engineering challenge.

if able further enquiry, please reply -- or edit original post if forum allows this. same goes me.

edit: hunting vesa-mount component finds http://www.macpartsonline.com/923-0703-bag-fg-2pk-vesa-21-5-imac-a1418.html# -- i'm waiting hear these people whether indeed correct component.

edit: appears may need 3 or more parts: googling imac model (a1418) parts starts right places. tricky thing going figuring out parts need.

($46) 923–0419 vesa mechanism plate imac 21.5 md093ll md094ll me699ll a1418
($28) 923–0420 vesa tongue imac 21.5 md093ll md094ll me699ll a1418
($62) 923–0421 vesa mount adaptor imac 21.5 md093ll md094ll me699ll a1418

(=$136)
(...thanks http://www.macpalace.com/imac-21.5-inch-late-2012--page-3.html)

think need 3 parts. maybe plus screws & maybe screwdriver.

http://www.applecomponents.com/?search_within=1&p=all_items&last_cmp=&last_cat=service+parts:+case+components:+uncategorized&s=vesa <-- prices site seem relatively reasonable.

https://www.macpartsdepot.com/index.php/imac/body-chassis.html?limit=100 <-- silly prices @ least give pictures of parts.

http://www.macpartstore.com/923-041...-imac-21.5-md093ll-md094ll-me699ll-a1418.html <-- decent looking prices.

edit: i've learned technician @ macpartsonline.com that:
you need housing vesa mount capability. apple part number is:
923-0425 http://www.macpartsonline.com/923-0425-housing-rear-vesa-a1418.html

... , unit weighs in @ $418.

pretty kills it.

or sell 1 you've got , buy 1 vesa mount it's simplest answer.
