When OS X led a secret life on Intel

back in 2005 @ wwdc, steve jobs revealed in dramatic taste, how os x developed processor agnostic inception. hints of can found in developer previews of os x, let developers target either powerpc or intel development. ancestor of os x, nextstep , openstep available intel x86.

interest though surrounds apple's maintenance of os x, marketed product on intel in secret. there story on quora posted apple developers wife, hacked working version on intel 18 months, without apple knowing seems.

became known marklar, never officially acknowledge due secrecy. when steve said every version of os x recompiled intel, dramatics or actual behind scenes strategy? because seemed have been 1 man, experimental project; on home machines suggested program manager @ apple; , wasn't of interest apple until higher level folks such bertrand serlet, steve jobs saw working system running it.

also, there not detail whether 'when see it, want lick it' aqua based os x or maybe proof of concept command line/verbose loading os x on x86 hardware. known though, project legitimized around 'jaguar', story of how lock down went it. believe skunkworks, became full team compiling panther (and tiger got saw , use) on intel.

interesting is, if possible ahold of 10.0, 10.1, 10.2 , 10.3 releases of os x on intel. thinking of contacting kim scheinberg more information , craig federighi if willing give me copies play with.

i can't see why company apple keeps locked down want give "copies play with..." it's worth try! don't let download previous version of osx unless 'purchased' in app store.
