Apple Rejects Weight Measuring 3D Touch App 'Gravity'

app developer ryan mcleod , few of friends have been working on new application iphone 6s , iphone 6s plus since devices announced in september. app, dubbed gravity, harness power of 3d touch, letting users place spoon onto face of iphone , weigh measurement of items powders, drink mixes, , small fruit.

once got new iphones in hands, team working mcleod began calibrating sensitivity of weight measurements few coins placed on spoon. following launch of iphone 6s , 6s plus, mcleod , partners had app finished in under 4 days, along basic marketing materials, , submitted apple. rejected week later due "having misleading description," took confused handful of fake scale apps on app store (via the verge).

setting out clear confusion, mcleod made demonstration video of gravity in action , filed appeal ensure apple app legitimate , not 1 of handful of "joke" apps found on app store. in end, mcleod told on phone apple "the concept of scale app not appropriate app store."

developer weighed few options possibility of apple's rejection of app. first possibility of damage iphone, difficult average person since api gravity (and 3d touch) limits weight accepted onto iphone ~385g (0.85lbs), app flashing bright red light when exceeding force. mcleod suggests app's advantageous use of 3d touch accepted, not mention possible negative connotation drug use , measurement associated app.
