Clone Time Machine HDD to allow for two independent TM HDDs?

i have 2 independent tm backups. 1 started off clone of other. did such way time machine thinks same tm backup when plug in either drive, not intended. means if plug in tm drive a, perform backup, dismount , unplug , plug in tm drive b, tm tells me last backup drive time of last backup made tm drive a.

i'm pretty confident read somewhere it's possible have tm recognise each tm drive unique tm backup, , therefore report lapsed time since each backup correctly either drive.

i'm upgrade tm drive b, entail cloning new usb 3 hdd. how do , have tm recognise unique tm backup , report correct lapsed time in future?

you start new tm volume not clone existing one, no other way have them different after all. clone clone of previous drive show identical. when plug in new drive go tm preferences , add volume backup ask if want use both yes let thing , have 2 different backups point on showing correct time lapsed on both.
