2012 Mac Mini & Fusion. Could Not Use 750GB 7200RPM.


my fusion set crashed , took me 2 days , running before remembered ran couple years ago.

[for reference top slot means top when mini upside down. bottom slot means buried slot]

absolutely not working fusion setup 750gb 7200rpm drive installed in mini.

tried seagate momentusxt 750gb "hybrid" (st750lx003) , western digital black 750gb
(wdblhj7500anc).

[fyi: 750gb drives absolutely install fine, in fusion environment cause problems.]

hdd in bottom tray , ssd in top, fusion volume create os x not write volume. fail @ trying create recovery partition. if trick system not make recovery partition, crash @ next thing. time machine not work.

ssd in bottom tray , hdd in top tray, ssd became unresponsive. when trying kind of "erase" or "partition" fail not being able unmount drive and/or volume. when trying make corestorage volume....before making "macintosh hd" volume. diskutil cs create fusion disk0 disk1 fail not being able unmount disk0. in combination not make fusion volume.

putting either 500gb or 1tb (both 5400rpm me) in bottom slot , ssd in upper slot creates fusion drive recovery partition 0 problems.

don't know if it's 7200 rpm that's culprit or 750gb aspect. suspect 750gb capacity not offered apple computers had fusion available.

mavericks can have problems making recovery partition on homemade fusion setup. yosemite , el capitan fine it. once blow out recovery partition have use internet recovery, me meant tried mavericks (in jan 2016). ended doing installing mavericks usb 3.0 flash drive (just select usb drive install destination), booted mini off , download el capitan , made bootable flash drive way. installed el capitan fusion drive. keep usb stick around :)

i assume since you're using , went through trouble fix it, prefer diy fusion setup on 2 stand alone drives. new me mac on way , have been debating way i'm going. 1 thing know @ moment is, don't know how did working creating boot drives. learn @ moment, it's foreign me.

Resolved why bool value is not changed in dispatch
