The Tehachapi Mudslides

not in know, there storm on last weekend resulted in horrendous mudslides, closing california state highway 58, shortest route connects california/arizona/nevada high desert area (las vegas, kingman, laughlin, barstow) central california agricultural region (bakersfield, fresno, visalia, modesto). mean driving northern california area need drive reno, nv, or through northern section of los angeles area drive up; either way long. mudslides crazy.

road access mudslides trapped hundreds of cars in california last week impossible, photographer strapped on backpack , hiked 10 miles in bring these photos.

“it took 10 mile hike massive mudslide, worth it,” writes tehachapi life photography. “this major mess of mud spanned half mile, , on 50 cars, trucks, , big rigs. of these people have been out here 20 hours, , still there. caltrans working steadily clear single lane, need pull out large vehicles half buried. such amazing sight see, , pleased take photos show all. shout out men , women there large clean job.”

mudslide on california 58 in antelope valley trapped approximately 200 vehicles. closed highway between exit 165 , cameron road. no 1 killed.
