Storage tips please


i new mac user , purchased imac retina 27" 256gb ssd. wanted speed of ssd , figure can use external drive if needed less needed files.

don't think fill 256gb if tried i'm wondering others might recommend storage photos , itunes library since these take space. others using in way of cloud external storage these files?
 

i have had great success owc (www.macsales.com) mercury elite pro series of ehd. have other series allow 32tb of hd storage via thunderbolt. owc long standing , respected vendor of mac accessories products. no don't work them, 10 year satisfied customer.
