How to update the recovery partition


if update el capitan delta update, not update recovery partition.

example, if update 10.11 10.11.1 delta update, recovery partition stays @ 10.11 version.

1 way update recovery partition run latest full installer - if system up-to-date. that's opening nut sledge hammer.

there quicker way without running full installer.

1. download lion recovery update https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1464?locale=en_us . (and before ask, yes. mean lion recovery update!) make sure in downloads folder. if still happen have latest full el capitan installer somewhere, right click on install os x el capitan.app file , click show package contents. go contents/sharedsupport/. copy installesd.dmg file downloads folder. if don't still have full installer, can again redownloading purchases tab in mac app store.

2. download , decompress file recovery.sh.zip http://4unitmaths.com/recovery.sh.zip , move recovery.sh downloads folder if it's not there already.

3. open terminal , type following commands:

chmod +x ~/downloads/recovery.sh
sudo ~/downloads/recovery.sh

4. wait few minutes finish , return prompt. reboot holding down option key test recovery partition.

(although if have core storage have revert make recovery partition show in startup manager. run these in terminal revert if want to:

diskutil cs list

, then

diskutil corestorage revert lvuuid

lvuuid last lvuuid reported previous terminal command. restart.)

note: method can used create recovery partition when 1 not exist, eg., when using ccc restore system, recovery partition not restored too.
 

this still working 10.11.5 too.
