i have several gmail imap accounts. past several months have ceased sync in background , cannot connect smtp either. when open mail, not connect. if quit mail, restart it, start syncing again after 3-4 attempts @ refresh. solution gmail app connects fine. other apps connect gmail fine using same credentials.
