have 2010 macbook pro. backing files external hard drive yesterday, ejected hard drive desk top pulled out usb cable, macbook started make crackling noise , froze , had spinning wheel of death, left few minutes after no change shut down using off button. when rebooted there flashing question mark , macbook wouldn't open. tried starting in safe mode didn't work, started through os x recovery mode repair macintosh hd not listed, thing in list os x base system. can't reinstall os x again hd not listed. don't have time machine or of hd. there can fix this, not technical or knowledgable on workings of macs! in advance offered.   drive seems dead... happens. replace (ssd if possible), reinstall osx, restore time machine, go   Forums Macs Notebooks

so turned on imac g4 800mhz first time since august 2015, , ungodly slow. decided fix that. below few things did improve it. software update huge roll in making sure running latest, performance , security. go apple logo “check updates” , if available, install them! disable automatic update checks, , if have iwork or ilife, sure check updates manually. save bit of time if starting fresh install of tiger or running earlier version of tiger, download 10.4.11 combo update (180.8mb) , keep handy future usage. install tenfourfox important because tweaks , extensions can enable under tff make life easier, big push html5. download tff here . sure select correct processor! install adblock . make webpages load faster. <--- i suggest bluhell firewall on adblock, adblock plus or adblock edge. adblock addons have serious memory leak , big heavy cpu users. tenfourfoxbox if have frequent webpage visit , want access whil

i have dual monitor setup on mac mini - main display connected via thunderbolt dvi adapter. secondary display tv connected directly hdmi out. i've upgraded tv , facing strange issue. everytime tv using hdmi input (cable or playstation) mac's main display blinks, solid black screen similar occurs when 1 changes monitor's resolution. 2 black screens in quick succession, all's around 15 seconds , cycle repeats. clicking display icon in menu bar noticed sony tv listing disappears after first blink , reappears after second blink (a second or later). basically, mini ceases see tv every 15 seconds , detects again. tried playing power settings on tv, , on mac side tried turning mirroring off. disabled sony tv on mac using third party utility no avail. thing works unplugging hdmi cable mac. if else fails i'll hdmi switch can use disable tv's hdmi when not in use dirty solution. didn't have such issue on earlier bravia (a 32" m

( i'm assuming can find similar or better image quality as/than crt ? ) question - can flat screen looks better crt ? should ? hi there, few days ago found out, icons in application-folder on time machine - backup wrong. i experience second time problem keyboard of mbp 15" 2011 (8,2). first time in 2013. 3 days after expiring of warranty, these keys failed - first intermittently, after completely. did cost me lot of money @ time repaired (it 1 of official apple service partner - told me replaced it). now, again 2 years later, problem begins again same symptoms. took off keys hoping cleaning help. space under keys clean. after "cleaning" action, keys worked again (the mbp cooled down during time). 20 minutes happy - more using mbp again in hour after , more keys failed again. now have thesis: every time mbp gets warm/hot, soldering or material of keyboard risks less efficient (same problem dgpu-problem theses models ?) , keys above cpu begin fail (at least intermittently). line key t o exactly on top of cpu (at least, hottest part of downside underneath these keys), , think might problem. in case, beginning before mbp starts active cooling , w
